Real Pathways to Economic Stability and Opportunity for All
We invest in NEPA’s workforce development infrastructure—planning, training, pathways, and supports—that no single organization can build alone.
Our Investment Priorities
Each priority reflects where coordinated, regional investment can unlock the greatest progress for workers, families, and employers.
Regional Alignment
We fund cross-sector efforts that help leaders from education, workforce, and industry plan together—aligning K-12 and post-secondary pathways with regional priorities so investments serve the whole NEPA region, not just a part of it.
What we’re building together:
Shared regional planning across systems: education, workforce, and industry partners use common data, language, and goals to plan pathways together across counties and sectors.
Clear, connected K–12 to post-secondary pathways: learners move from school to training to work through aligned pathways that reflect real regional labor demand—not disconnected handoffs.
Durable coordination beyond pilot projects: Collaboration is built into regional infrastructure, so progress continues even as funding cycles, leaders, or programs change.
Local Upskilling
We fund post-secondary and workforce programs that bring professional development opportunities into communities—especially rural ones—so people can build skills for high-wage, in-demand jobs without leaving home.
What we’re building together:
Training access that matches NEPA’s geography: Upskilling opportunities reach rural and small-town communities through local sites, flexible schedules, and hybrid delivery.
Credentials tied to high-wage, in-demand jobs: Training leads to credentials that employers recognize and value—especially in healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and service sectors.
Smooth transitions into work or advancement: Upskilling programs connect directly to jobs, promotions, or wage gains, reducing drop-off between training and employment.
Homegrown Talent
We fund efforts that help employers shape talent pipelines, connecting businesses to training partners and helping NEPA grow, keep, and advance local workers for in-demand roles.
What we’re building together:
Employer-led talent pipelines: Businesses actively shape training content, credentials, and hiring pathways so skills match demand.
Retention and advancement, not just hiring: Local workers can move up over time, earning more in NEPA rather than cycling through low-wage roles or leaving the region.
Pathways that keep talent local: Education and training investments are designed to help people build careers where they live, strengthening rural and small-city communities.
Stability to Advance
We fund supports that help people grow professionally and personally—like child care, transportation, housing, and benefits—so pursuing a better job doesn’t cost their peace of mind.
What we’re building together:
Transportation to work and training: Workers can reliably reach jobs and training across a spread-out region, including county lines and shift schedules.
Supports that sustain: Child care, housing, and benefits systems are coordinated so raises, promotions, or new credentials don’t trigger financial setbacks.
Infrastructure that helps people navigate systems: Workers can move between training, work, and resources without confusion, delays, or unnecessary risk.
